State Representative Robert Miklos (D-Mesquite) earned the endorsement of the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), which represents over 16,000 men and women across the state who serve their communities with pride.
“As a former prosecutor, I have the utmost respect for the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the safety of our families. I’m honored to have TMPA’s endorsement, but I am even more appreciative of our close working relationship,” Miklos said.
TMPA representative Tom Gaylor said the organization is “proud to support Robert Miklos for re-election in House District 101. Rep. Miklos worked hard during his first session to ensure that Texas law enforcement has the tools and resources we need to be safe and effective. We look forward to his return.”
During the 81st Legislative session, Representative Miklos filed bills that enabled law enforcement officers to process warrants more quickly, repay student loans, and protected their rights as public servants. Most notably, Rep. Miklos crossed the aisle to sponsor Senator John Carona’s omnibus anti-gang bill, which sought to crack down on drug dealers and violent gangs with tougher criminal penalties.
The TMPA endorsement is the latest of many endorsements by important community service groups, including firefighters, doctors, and nurses.
Rep. Miklos represents House District 101, comprised of Mesquite, Balch Springs and Sunnyvale. Elected in 2008, Rep. Miklos currently serves on the Committee of Criminal Jurisprudence and Committee on Urban Affairs. He also serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Capital Punishment. Rep. Miklos lives in Mesquite with his wife Kathy and their three sons.
